Wednesday Evening Potluck

Wednesday evening gatherings grew out of necessity. A few years back, Bert was rebuilding his Whitman Tailwind and Bea would bring him a bit to eat at dinnertime. This grew into a few more joining in by bringing whatever they wanted to eat and has since become a tradition. Wednesday nights are now filed with the smell of something grilling, the best potluck dinners and smoke from the fire pit. Just like Saturday mornings, a core group of 5 or 6 people will show but when the weather's good and the days long there could be as many as 20 to 25. What's different about Wednesdays is the crowd isn't made up of just pilots or even aviation enthusiast, it's a family atmosphere. You'll find us under the massive natural canopy that gave Shade Tree it's name. We are lucky to have enormous Live Oak trees that have been here long before the Wright brothers soloed . Under this canopy, years back the EAA chapter that was then at Shade Tree built permanent picnic tables and is now used almost daily to relax and get out of the sun. Dinnertime varies depending on the time of year, we meet under the Oaks earlier in the winter than summer.
