We're building a WagAero "Sport Trainer". They claim it to be an accurate replica of the Piper Cub.

Before starting the project we built a jig for the fuselage sides. It's a table 3feet wide and 20 feet long. Painted gray (because that's what we had)

We than drew the sides full scale.

Monday, 16 March 09 we recieved the fuselage "Kit". Actually it was a box of fittings and a long tube with 4130 tubes in it.

We got to work filling the jig with the tubing. Here, Sam and John are grinding "fish mouths" in the tubes.

Sam is measuring for the next tube.

Monday night, the jig is filled with the first fuselage side.

More pipe going into the jig.

Janet, John, Sam and Danny after only two days. Both sides already tack welded.

Two days into the project, two sides tack welded.

THE ONE! The one good tack that John was credited with.

Wednesday, 18 Mar 09. 3 days into the project and the fuse is standing up, Bottom and top tacked.

Thursday, Seth stops by to make airplane noises.

Friday, 20 March 09. Danny starts the long process of finish welding.

The end of the day Friday 20 March.

Tuesday, 24 March 09. Sam and John start the top of the fuselage.

End of the day, 25 March 09.

The final welding begins

Wing structure on hold, waiting for bolts.

Sizing up the tail feathers

Starting the horizontal stabs

Sam, looking it over

Danny building a jig for the compression sruts

Tacking the compression struts

Elevator bell-crank fitting

Rigging to get the torque tube installed

Front spar attach point

Rear spar attach point

Heavy duty antenna mount.

Sam, grinding the welds on the tail post down a bit

End of the day, 16 April 09. One month after starting the project the fuse is essentially done. Waiting on deliverys from WagAero.

End of the day 16 April 09. The shop is just about empty while we wait for parts from WagAero.

Still, no bolts from WagAero.

Parts! We finally got the shipment of parts so construction will resume.

Unfortunately, the firewall/cowling was damaged in shipment. Notice the dents are from the inside out.

Windows, well one of them anyway.
